Extreme Skiing
Extreme skiing is one of the extreme winter sports thats continues to engross adventurous and fearless skiers. It is typically done on slopes of more then 45 degrees and is one of the toughest extreme sports around. It is so demanding because of it's steep slopes, natural obstacles, ungroomed snow, and aerial maneuvers, which push the skier to his or her physical limits. The utmost control over one's movements is very important in this risky and challenging sport.
Skiing history has it that the brithplace of extreme skiing was in Tuckermine Ravine, in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. This place attracted so many skiers because of it's deep snow and challenging terrain, which paved the way for extreme skiing today. Since the sport poses so many challenges protective gear is very important. It is suggested that skiers should wear back protection similar to a fire retardant high-density foam and ski boots with boot fairings and bindings. In addition to this there are several other important pieces of equipment needed such as poles, gloves, wax, speed ski helmet and boot bags.
In order to safely participate in extreme skiing one must have years of off-piste skiing experience and be able to master the skill of dodging natural ostaclee, while having control over downhill movement. In addition, being in good physical condition is something to take into consideration. It is very important and necessary to ski with ski instructors who are experts in off-piste skiing or with certified mountain guides. It is also advisable for skiers to start skiing off-piste mountains that are wide and do not have natural obstacles. A person can then shift progressively to steeper slopes. A skier can also try skiing in gullies from short ones that lead to wide slopes and then to longer gullies. Once a person has skied on various slopes and gullies it is then suggested they can try large drop-off cliffs for real extreme sport action. Finally, it is very important to choose your snow conditions carefully, when planning an extreme skiing adventure.
